Chief Operating Officer

Reports to: Directors/CEO and MD
Location: Full time, Aurangabad

Job Summary

We are looking for a executive management team member to join us. As a key position in the organization who will work very closely with the founding team, the COO must be a skilled communicator, effective leader and a driven professional who believes in the vision of building sustainable and inclusive cities, towns and villages. The position offers high levels of responsibility, independence, ownership, creative space and the satisfaction of leading change and impact on ground.

Roles and Responsibilities

Organization Development

  1. Work closely with the leadership team to develop strategies and growth plans of the verticals and the organization, identify resources, partnerships and team needed to implement the growth plan

Hiring and Internships

  1. Identify hiring needs through regular interaction with Program Managers and HR manager
  2. Update hiring policies as needed
  3. Lead the internship programs at the organization

Team training

  1. Identify team training requirements and work on an annual team training plan
  2. Work with the HR manager to identify and mobilize relevant training resources for internal capacity building

Policies and procedures

  1. Ensure effective implementation of organization policies
  2. Review and update organization policies and keep the teams updated on the same
  3. Develop Standard Operating Procedures for verticals and departments as required

Team Performance and Management

  1. Work with HR to enhance systems for performance management
  2. Identify opportunities for the team and ensure they grow within the organization through capacity building
  3. Build teams understanding of PMS develop a position outlook about the same
  4. Work with directors & HR to develop a healthy team & a clear growth path for every member

Business Development

  1. Identify service offerings for grant making organizations, multilateral organizations and clients and work on proposal development accordingly
  2. Donor/client relationship cultivation and management
  3. Forge strategic partnerships to ensure effective delivery of programs and services
  4. Build efficiency into proposal making & stakeholders management process.

Program Development and Management

  1. Oversee program implementation in compliance with SOPs by working closely with the program managers
  2. Updating and creating Standard Operating Procedures that guide the implementation of programs
  3. Management of technology to guide the implementation of programs and enable effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting of impact


Work with the Communications team to ensure:

  1. Regular communication with key stakeholders across all social media platforms
  2. Implementation of communication strategy to establish the brand of the organization
  3. Regular updating of company website
  4. Represent organization at national and international platforms by attending and speaking at conferences, workshops, panels


  1. A University degree in management or related field.
  2. Minimum 5 years of leadership experience of which at least 3 in organized leadership position
